Help is at hand for small and medium businesses wanting to
launch or develop their websites thanks to a scheme organised in
partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Hundreds of pounds of funding are up for grabs through the
IT@Work project organised by a partnership of Business West, the
South West Regional Development Agency and four unitary authorities
including Bath & North East Somerset Council.
The project works on a 50/50 matched funding basis, with up to
£500 provided against any sum invested by the business itself.
To be eligible, businesses must be privately owned and can range
from sole traders to organisations with a maximum of 250
employees.
Successful applicants will also receive practical help. This can
range from assistance in setting up a new site to help in upgrading
the website and introducing e-commerce, where businesses can deal
with tendering, ordering and invoicing electronically and
e-procurement for businesses to use the latest technology to
acquire goods and services online.
E-commerce can help businesses to increase their efficiency by
keeping electronic records and systems to deal with bill payments,
inventory management, contract management and tendering
analysis.
Businesses are also expected to benefit from increased client
awareness, advertising and online trading by having an easy to use
and up-to-date website.
