A NEW innovative public transport service for villages and rural
communities to the north of Bath has been launched by Bath &
North East Somerset Council.
Fare Car is a safe and friendly shared taxi service at special
rates and is being operated by Bath Taxis for the Council.
It offers transport in and out of Bath on Wednesday and Friday
for people living in Lansdown, Tadwick, Langridge, Upper Langridge,
Woolley, Charlcombe, Swainswick, Upper Swainswick, Northend and St
Catherine.
Passengers can travel from their home address into Bath city
centre at 10.30am or 11.30pm and can then be picked up that
afternoon at 12.30pm or 2pm. The cost is just £1 per single
journey.
Drop off points for the service are Milsom Street and Henry
Street (by Marks and Spencer) and pick up points are at Henry
Street and Upper Borough Walls (outside The Mineral Water
Hospital).
To use the scheme people must live in the designated Fare Car
area and register to become a member by calling Tel: 01225
477615.
They will then be issued with a Fare Car membership number and
card. All bookings must be made in advance of the time of travel –
please book no later than 9am for a 10.30am trip into the city and
for a journey that arrives in Bath at 11.30am please book no later
than 10am.
To travel on the journey that departs Bath at 12.30pm book no
later than 12noon. For the journey that leaves the city at 2pm book
no later than 1.30pm.
