DUE to a rise in driver’s costs, fuel prices and insurance, Bath
& North East Somerset Council is increasing the cost of return
fares on its popular Park and Ride services by 10p from today.
The rise, which is the first in three years and well below the
levels of inflation, has followed the recent re-tendering of the
service back to First who have been successfully running the
service for the Council for many years.
The new cost of a return fare will be £1.70 which still offers a
good value for money service for people wanting to park their car
all day and come into the city of Bath.
Pensioners and disabled people will continue to benefit from
half price travel on the Park and Ride with return fares rising
from 80p to 85p. Accompanied children under the age 16 of will
continue to travel for free.
Commuters will be pleased to know that they can still purchase a
ten journey ticket at the new price of £8. This saves them 50p a
week as opposed to buying return tickets on a daily basis.
Bath & North East Somerset Council operates three Park and
Ride services to the north, west and south of Bath that offer quick
and easy access into the city from 6.30am to 8.30pm Monday to
Saturday.
