FORMER Eastenders star Sid Owen, currently starring as Dick
Whittington in the Theatre Royal’s Pantomime, took time out of a
busy schedule to launch Bath & North East Somerset Council’s
free Christmas tree collection service last week.
The Council is offering free collections from residents’
households throughout January. These will be collected as part of
the successful fortnightly garden waste and cardboard
collections.
Cllr Rosemary Todd, Executive Member for Sustainability and the
Environment, said: “We are delighted to be able once again to
collect the many thousands of Christmas Trees from the residents of
Bath & North East Somerset.
“Christmas can be a wasteful time of year and we are keen that
as much waste as possible is either composted or recycled. We are
serious about moving towards zero waste and are trying to make it
as convenient as possible for everyone to take part.”
You do not need a bin or bag to deposit your Christmas tree,
just put it out at the edge of your property where it can be
clearly seen from 8am on your normal collection day.
If you do not know when this is please call the Action Line on
01225 394041 or visit the
Council's waste services webpages.
Please only put out real trees and remove all decorations as the
trees will be composted and made into soil conditioner within the
district.
If you are visiting one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres
within the district, at Midland Road, Bath; Pixash Lane, Keynsham
or Radstock Road, Midsomer Norton you can also deposit your
Christmas tree there, along with a wide range of other materials
for recycling.
Don’t forget that your Christmas cards can also go in your
weekly Green Box recycling collection.
