ARE you planning a summer holiday in France or Spain and need to
brush up on your language skills? Or maybe you want to give your
garden a mini-makeover.
If you would like to learn a new skill then the summer term
adult education programme at St. Marks School in Larkhall, Bath,
may be just what you are looking for.
With courses as varied as drawing and watercolour painting for
beginners, learning how to surf the internet and scan and edit
photographs, creative cookery and French and Spanish for beginners,
the Bath & North East Somerset Council programme offers
something for everyone.
If you’ve never touched a computer keyboard in your life and
don’t know where to begin, try the free four-week course Get
Started and follow that with one of a range of courses designed to
help you use a computer in a fun and creative way.
Learn to hire a car, order meals and drinks and buy shopping
with confidence in French and Spanish with the ten-week courses,
both taught by native speakers.
A range of Creative Cookery evening classes and Saturday
workshops explore Mediterranean cookery, Vegetarian cookery,
African, Indian and South East Asian cookery. Parents can
take their children to a family learning workshop, “Kids’
Kitchen”.
For people who have never had the time or confidence to develop
their creative skills, there is a ten week beginners’ course in
drawing and water colour painting.
If your creativity is more garden-focused there will be two
Saturday workshops in Willow Craft and Creative Wire Sculpture for
the Garden. People will have the opportunity to plan and make free
standing structures and plant or topiary supports for their own
garden projects.
All courses are taught in a relaxed and friendly environment by
tutors who are experts in their field. While some are free, others
have a charge and booking in advance is strongly advised.
Concessions are available to those in receipt of benefit and to
anyone aged over 60.
