Universal Yoga

Red Hill House, Camerton

Who are we?

Universal yoga has been offering yoga to the community since 2004, when founder, Charlotta Martinus moved to Somerset. Charlotta has been practising yoga for over 12 years and teaching for five years. Universal yoga is a company, which aims to bring local yoga teachers from all lineages together and provide schools and communities with yoga in many different forms, adapting the teaching to the need.

We teach classes varying from ten minutes yoga classes to retreat weekends.

The ages vary from 4 to 90.

We featured on B&NES DVD “Thinking outside the PE Box”, teaching yoga at Norton Hill School.

Charlotta is a regular guest on BBC Somerset as a yoga expert.

What do we teach?

We teach in many primary schools, secondary schools and village halls. We teach specific CHAIR YOGA classes for the very stiff, elderly or infirm. We also offer ante-natal and post-natal yoga. There is a class on Thursdays for kids and parents, just before bedtime. Our longest standing class is our Thursday evening class which is our intermediate group, open to anyone who has been practising for a while. There are two MEDITATION courses per year as well. Our most popular class, is our BEGINNERS YOGA on Monday evenings.

Where?

Universal Yoga is based at the purpose built double glazed and warm studio in Red Hill House, Camerton (nr Radstock), where there are classes every day. There is also access to a sauna. We love teaching here!

However, we like to reach out and frequently teach in other situations. We are available to teach throughout the BaNES area and sometimes beyond.

We believe

At Universal Yoga we firmly believe that Yoga is the panacea for most ills. If it can’t cure it, it can certainly make you feel better about having it, whatever it is!

The combination of exercise, relaxation and breathing invariably leads to a greater sense of wellbeing and a higher self-esteem, as well as helping to create a permanent sense of peace and bliss.

Cost

The cost to hire a teacher (for schools or similar) is £25 - £35 per hour. To come to one of our classes, the cost is £8 drop-in, or £85 for a term (14 weeks).

Get Active clients, get 10% rebate on any classes.

Please contact Charlotta on 01761 470 658 or check on line at Universalyoga.co.uk for more details.

New Classes from September 2009

I would like to inform you of some new classes just starting here at Universal Yoga in Camerton.

On Tuesdays we have our ante-natal yoga class at 730pm, small groups, no more than 10 people at a time, plenty of parking available. Any stage of pregnancy welcome. Check website universalyoga.co.uk or call 01761 470 658.

On Thursday mornings at 1030 there is post-natal yoga, with tea and cake afterwards! These classes are for parent and child.

On Monday at 6pm there is the beginners class at 6pm for just one hour. This is normally quite popular as it gives you a good basis for any yoga class and allows you to then go on to a general class.

There are general classes on Mondays, WEdnesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well.  We currently have places in all classes.

It costs £8 per class, £70 for ten lessons or £100 for an unlimited pass, which allows you  to go to any class.

We also run regular Saturday workshops and retreat days and weekends - allowing you to immerse yourself completely in well-being!!

There are still 2 places left for our retreat 2-4th October at £250.

Universal Yoga is based in Camerton, nr Radstock and is run by Charlotta Martinus with a lot of help from her yoga friends: SUshi, Tejas, Corrina, Michael Townsend-Williams and many others who come to cook and help out on a regular basis.

We operate an open house, where anyone who would like to stay for a night or several are welcome to taste a yogic life-style, with vegetarian cookery, and daily yoga and meditation practise.

If you would like to find out more, please check the website - universal yoga.co.uk or call us on 01761 470 658.

Yoga releases tension in the body as well as strengthening and toning the muscles, leaving you with a greater sense of well-being and higher energy levels. All the teachers here believe passionately in yoga as a lifestyle and love to share their passion with the students. We share a Sivananda lineage.

We also have a monthly group meditation and weekly meditation courses for those who would like to explore this more.

We look forward to welcoming you!!

om shanti
