Ipod Winner Starts to Get Healthy and Get Active
Bath and North East
Somerset Council’s Sport and Active Leisure Team have been
encouraging members of staff to sign up to their free GET ACTIVE
Scheme. Get Active members receive advice and tips via a regular
online newsletter on how and where they can lead a more active
lifestyle. On top of this they also get access to a range of
discounts, either to local leisure providers or retail outlets.
Sign up today to GET
ACTIVE. It is completely free so there is no reason why everyone
shouldn’t enjoy the benefits and reap the rewards from being part
of the GET ACTIVE scheme.
One person who signed up
to GET ACTIVE was Nigel Harrisson, Inclusion Support Service
Manager within Children’s Service, who found himself the lucky
winner of an IPOD, sponsored by Aquaterra Leisure, the operators of
the Council’s Leisure Centres.
Nigel said, “I have
recently started to look at healthier eating and more regular
exercise to help improve my health. In my lunch hour, I now make a
point of going for a walk around Keynsham and whenever I can, I go
for a long walk at weekends. If I go shopping in Bath, I will park
the car at the far end of Victoria Park and walk to the shops”.
Nigel also added, “The
newsletter is very informative and useful giving out tips plus many
events that are taking place in Bath and North East Somerset”.
Aquaterra Leisure who
donated the IPOD manage Bath Sports Centre, Keynsham Sports Centre,
South Wansdyke Sports Centre, Culverhay Sports Centre, The
Pavilion, Entry Hill Golf Course and the Approach Golf Course.
Christian Stephens,
B&NES Leisure Partnership Officer said “We are encouraging
everyone to think about their health and to become more active and
healthy in their everyday lives. The partnership with Aquaterra
enables us to offer facilities across Bath and North East Somerset
to suit all ages and abilities in a variety of sport’s, fitness and
leisure activities”.
