GET ACTIVE

Encouraging Bath and North East Somerset to GET and STAY active.

Bath and North East Somerset’s Sport and Active Leisure Team, along with a whole range of partners have produced a Vision for Sport and Active Leisure for the next 5 years until 2010. This is not purely a Council Vision but marks the coming together of a range of partners to establish creative and innovative ways to make a difference through Sport and Active Leisure. It is also an invitation to new partners to join with us in achieving our ambitions.

The purpose of producing GET ACTIVE is to:-

  • Create a framework to increase physical activity levels in Bath and North East Somerset by at least 1% per year.
  • Create a platform on which a wide range of partners can join together to create a more co-ordinated approach to the delivery of Sport and Active Leisure.
  • Raise awareness of the role that Sport and Active Leisure can play in developing the economic and social health of the area.
  • Raise sporting standard at grass roots level to increase representation at county, regional, national and international level.

GET ACTIVE has 6 key themes and an overarching aim of increasing participation in physical activity by at least 1 % per year.

Key Theme 1:         Developing Community Sport

Key Theme 2:         PE and School Sport

Key Theme 3:         Towards Inclusion

Key Theme 4:         Improving Health Through Physical Activity

Key Theme 5:         Fit for Purpose Facilities

Key Theme 6:         Encouraging Sports Events and Tourism
