BISPAA FC - Tournament Reports

30 November 2008 - Street, Somerset

BISPAA FC Team Talk
BISPAA FC Player

After travelling through a snow blizzard to get to Street we had a fantastic day.  The team really gelled well and worked together impressively to get their best results this season.

Pete Til was top goal scorer with 8, he had some great shots from distance including one which he sailed into the back of the net from just passed the half way line, definitely goal of the day.  Pete once again proved what a versatile player he is by falling back and defending well in partnership with Malcolm Hawke and Glen Smith.  Malcolm had a day’s goal tally of 4 and enjoyed some physical encounters on the wing driving attacking players off the ball with his superior skills.  Glen’s strength lies in his ability to remain calm, understand the way the game is going, and take the ball through the midfield to an attacking play.  He also scored 4 goals proving that he can finish well under pressure.  Scott Leat showed some good skills up front when he was able to keep a cool head, once he was on the score sheet he settled well and put 5 goals past Bristol Rovers Pirates FC.  Stuart Frankcom played a very focussed tournament, closing down players and putting them under pressure, he scored 3 goals today and should’ve had more but for a muddy patch in front of goal which made him lose his footing and caused him to fall.  Gareth (Sergeant Major) Webb showed how valuable he is by urging on the team and keeping morale high on this cold day.  Goalie Gareth Longley managed his area well and his defenders showed what trust they have in him by consistently following his instructions, Gareth didn’t let them down we only conceded one goal all day, in our loss to Swindon Leopards FC.

Many people travelled to the Somerset FA hosted fixture including Lynda Deane who unfortunately had to leave after one game due to a pressing engagement with Clark’s Village.  A very big thank you to all our supporters.

Carrswood are hosting a disco on Friday 16th January 2009, we would love to see you there.  BISPAA FC will next play a tournament on 10th February 2009 in Wiltshire; venue will be announced in the New Year.
