The Egg Theatre for children and young people
The Egg is Theatre Royal Bath's dedicated theatre for young
people, complete with a family-friendly café on the ground floor.
It is for
0 – 25 year-olds and offers a rich programme of activities
comprising:
- ongoing performances for children and teenagers, presented in
the egg auditorium and in venues in North East Somerset;
- participatory opportunities for people aged 18 months – 21
years, especially the Young People’s Theatre which provides regular
drama sessions and performance/backstage opportunities including
dance and urban arts;
- an education programme with projects linked to Theatre Royal
productions, long-term schools projects, teacher training and
opportunities for schools to perform in the egg;
- and an outreach programme in association with local specialist
organisations to ensure that disabled and disadvantaged young
people have equal access to the opportunities for creative
expression and experience that the egg can offer.

The Rondo Theatre
The Rondo runs exciting Youth Theatre workshops on a weekly
basis during the Spring and Summer terms. Focusing on comedy, the
workshops provide a fantastic opportunity to harness creativity and
increase valuable communication and social skills. Each term
culminates in the creation of a comic masterpiece performed at The
Rondo.
The Youth Theatre also provides week-long Summer Holiday courses
during August, also leading to a performance at The Rondo

MUSIC
Bath International Music Festival
Bath Festivals Ltd. provides a year round programme of
educational events and activities enabling young people to develop
their creativity. The Bath International Music Festival includes a
special selection of events for children and families. In addition
we work with a variety of partners throughout the year to
deliver work across Bath and North East Somerset: we run
targeted education programmes in schools, youth centres and
community settings as well as open application programmes such as
the Festival Procession.

Bath International Guitar Foundation and Festival
The International Guitar Foundation programmes and promotes an
annual array of festivals, performances and educational activity
embracing all styles and genres of music that feature the guitar.
Its flagship event, now in its 15th year, is the International
Guitar Festival in Bath in July/August.
The Bath International Guitar Foundation and Festival provides
education programmes for all ages, including music workshops for
young people aged 5 upwards in a range of arts and educational
settings. The centrepiece of their education programme is an annual
residential summer school at Bath Spa University’s Newton Park
Campus, featuring voice, drums/percussion and world music for ages
12 to 80.
The Bath International Guitar Foundation and Festival promotes
the National Youth Rock Orchestra (NYRO), supported by Youth Music.
NYRO is aimed at young musicians aged between 8 and 18 years. It
provides an opportunity to train with professional musicians, in a
series of workshops and master classes leading to public
performances, for example at the International Guitar Festivals in
Bath.

Schools Music Service
Within Bath and
North East Somerset, all primary, junior, special and secondary
schools offer instrumental tuition to pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2.
Currently, over 2,000 pupils receive tuition offered in a wide
range of instruments.
As well as
in-school tuition, children and young people can attend one of the
four Music Centres which meet on a weekly basis during term-time.
The Centres provide rehearsal and performance opportunities in
Bands, Orchestras, Ensembles and Choirs for Primary and Secondary
school children. They are led by qualified music teachers who are
used to working with young people.

FILM & VIDEO
Suited & Booted Studios C.I.C.
The core activity of Suited and Booted Studios C.I.C. is
providing opportunities to experience and engage with moving
image and digital media. This is done by delivering media
projects within community and educational settings, as well as
supporting the training and development of young film
makers.
Suited and Booted Studios C.I.C. believe that the increase in
access to media and new technologies should be coupled with an
understanding of the power and capability of media as a
tool. By supporting and providing opportunities for a wide and
diverse community of interest they promote media literacy and the
use of digital technology as a tool for creativity.
Established in 1999 as a social enterprise, the community work
delivered is underpinned by commercial productions delivered for
clients such as GOSW, Gloucestershire County Council and
DCFS.

Club Flix
Club Flix is a film network for young people aged 13 – 21 with
an interest in film and video production.
The Club Flix website provides information about film making
opportunites and events both locally and nationally, as well as
providing a space for young film makers to screen their work.
Based in central Bath, Club Flix is run by a steering group of
young people who develop and facilitate film related activites,
such as screenings, talks and film making projects. There are
opportunites to join the steering group or to simply come along to
events and activites. Previous steering group members have gone on
to work within the film and tv industry and attend some of the top
film and tv production courses in the country.
Club Flix is a Suited and Booted Studios CIC initiative and is
supported by an experienced adult co-ordinator.

VISUAL ARTS
The Victoria Art Gallery – Young @ Art
Young @ Art is the children's art club at the Victoria Art
Gallery. Join Percy the Paintbrush for a year-round programme of
activities and workshops.
Young @ Art is for children between the ages of 3 and 11 who
live in the area. It operates in two age groups: 3 - 7 years and 6
- 11 years. To join simply pop into the Gallery and pick up an
application form.
Club membership is free of charge. Each session costs £3.50 per
child. Pre-booking is essential as the sessions are very popular.
All children to be accompanied by an
adult.

NESA (North East
Somerset Arts) is a community arts development agency working in
Bath and North East Somerset, whose aims are to create quality arts
projects that make a real difference to people’s lives. A key
category of NESA’s work is engaging with young people: working with

confidence, develop new skills and social awareness, are fun and
realise their creative potential.
