What's it all about?

2008 is the National Year of Reading.  We celebrate everything to do with reading.  This can be books, newspapers, websites, comics, car manuals or whatever.

There are 9 monthly themes which are:

June - Reading escapes

Focus on holiday reading or how reading helps an escape into a different world.

Celebrate poetry & lyrics

Influence of sport to promote reading

Sept - You are what you read

Way to celebrate and explore cultural, personal & local identities eg. local community history, family history research

Oct - Word of mouth

Celebrate storytelling, reading aloud, reading together.  Recommended reads idea and bounce & rhyme times etc

Nov - Screen reads

Diversity of reading and writing.  Film tie-ins

Dec - Write the future

One person writes, others read and technology brings reading and writing closer together
