The purpose of the Report

The report shows how the work of the Tourism, Leisure & Culture Service delivers the Council's Community Strategy ambitions and upholds the Council's vision and values. It gives an overview of services and activities delivered during the last financial year and provides specific examples of how the Service benefits a range of customers.

The report is intended to help residents, Councillors and the Council's partners and stakeholders to see how the Council's investment in culture influences the character of the district, enhances quality of life, and delivers social and economic benefit.

Conclusions

The report concludes that while much of the work of the Tourism, Leisure and Culture Service is not statutory provision, the Service has an important role to play by working in partnership with other Council Services to ensure the future development of the district.
