The Community Alarm Service provides special equipment that is
linked to a person’s telephone system, which enables a person to
get help quickly, via a 24 hour, 365 day monitoring centre.
To call for help, a button is pressed on an easy to use pendant
alarm, which places a call through to the monitoring centre.
Friendly and trained operators respond to the call, and provide the
appropriate support. This may include calling a nominated family
member, neighbour or friend, or if necessary alert the emergency
services. The people who answer the call will have
access to relevant information about you, so are able to respond
quickly and appropriately to your call.
It is also possible to link additional equipment such as smoke
detectors, flood detectors, temperature detectors to the system
which will send a warning to the monitoring centre if
activated.
A weekly charge is made for the hiring of the equipment and the
monitoring centre.
