TARGET GROUP: All trained nurses working with
people with urinary incontinence.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: By the end of the course
participants will:
- Have an understanding of basic anatomy and function of bladder
and lower urinary tract
- Recognise 5 different types of urinary incontinence and in
relation to them:
- Identify risk factors
- Identify signs and symptoms
- Discuss 1st line interventions
- Clearly identify which types of incontinence require specialist
follow up
- Know the hows and whys of completing a stage 1 Urinary
Continence Assessment
- Know how to order washable and disposable incontinence
products
- Know how to refer to the Continence Promotion Unit
