Bath Sports and Leisure Centre
Weight Training
There is a weights room, which runs a session for disabled
people once a week. The recreation officer responsible for the
weights room will see you before you begin training, to discuss
your physical abilities and needs.
The centre has accessible changing rooms and toilets, disabled
parking bays and staff available to assist. For further details on

Keynsham Leisure Centre
The Seals run a weekly swimming club at Keynsham Leisure Centre,
for people with physical disabilities and learning difficulties.
Carers or assistants are encouraged to join in. You can attend the
first swimming session free, to see whether it suits you. After
that, if you want to join, there will be a yearly membership fee
(at the moment £2) and a charge per swim. The club hold a gala
every year together with other invited clubs which can lead to
regional and national galas. If you are interested in trying a
session with the Keynsham Seals, you can turn up any Sunday morning
before 11 .30am. You can also phone the leader of the group at the
leisure centre.

Culverhay Sports Centre
Culverhay run a special needs session on Thursdays between
5.30pm and 6.30pm. The pool has angled steps into the waterpool but
does not have a hoist or other specialist equipment. The centre is
accessible to wheelchairs.

AEROBIC CLASSES FOR DISABLED PEOPLE
Aerobic Classes for Disabled People are fitness sessions for
short and long term disabled people. The classes are run by an
advanced trained instructor and the sessions include friendly
low-key exercise routines using special equipment. One-to-one
attention is given during the class and the routines are designed
for mobile people and also for those who cannot stand.
Sessions are held at the Percy Community Centre on Tuesday
evenings and Thursday mornings. There is also an Aquacise class,
which is held at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) every Thursday
evening between 7.30pm and 8.30pm. Aquacise includes similar
routines adapted for water. The RUH pool has a hoist. For further

Riding for the Disabled is a national charity that provides
horse-riding sessions for disabled people. Instruction and pleasure
sessions are available at several centres in the area. Full tuition
is given and helpers are provided if they are needed. For safety
reasons people are advised that there is an enrolment process
before they are able to ride which will involve information being
provided by their doctor. Tuition periods usually run over several
months. For more information about this and other riding facilities

Chew Lake Association for Disabled Sailors
Chew Lake Association for Disabled Sailors (CLADS) provide
teaching for disabled people wanting to sail. They have boats and
