DAY CARE – Fairfield, Bath, St Michaels, Bath and Stirling Way, Keynsham.

A caring environment in which the older people of Bath & Keynsham can enjoy companionship, lunch, stimulating activities and entertainment, together with a range of personal services including, bathing, hairdressing, hand care.

Transport is provided for all centre users by a specially adapted minibus.

Fairfield offers places for up to 20 users per day (Tuesday and Thursday)

HELP WITH MOVING
'Moving Experience' - 
provides an end-to-end house moving service. Can be particularly helpful for elderly people and those with special needs or anyone for whom the thought of moving is too daunting to contemplate alone. They will do anything from assistance with viewings, de-cluttering, packing up the home, overseeing the day of the move, cleaning old and new properties, getting the beds made on the first night, priority items unpacked and much more. The service provides short term practical help and support for older people after discharge from hospital, including the A&E department at the RUH.  Offers a visit from a mature volunteer who can give up to 72 hours support by seeking to:  give practical help for such things as shopping, preparing a light meal, taking a prescription to the chemist etc.  Provide transport on some occasions

HOMESHARE

If you are an older person wishing to stay in your own home but finding it a bit of a struggle - Homesharing may be the answer..

Volunteer drivers collect and return OAPs to their homes.  At the day centre they enjoy seeing and chatting to each other – elderly, housebound and some disabled who may not have contact with anyone but their carer or relative.  Games, quizzes and bingo, listen to piano music and sing along, watch slides from all around the world and do ‘music and movement’.

Home Library Service in Bath

Books on Wheels is a free library service available to people in Bath who cannot get to their local library.  Story cassettes and CDs, music CDs, jigsaw puzzles and large print books can all be delivered to your door.  Individually assigned volunteers choose material at Bath Central Library and then deliver them to your door.  To ensure the safety of readers, all volunteers are referenced before visiting readers.  The volunteer agrees with the reader how often they would like to be visited and how many items to bring.  If you are housebound and have no-one who can visit the library on your behalf, you could be eligible for Books on Wheels

Offers a free service to all disabled people in Bath, Trowbridge, Radstock and the surrounding areas.  Seven one hour tape programmes are distributed by a team of visitors each month to each listener's home with the object of providing information and entertainment to those who wish to receive it.  Listeners are encouraged to use their own tape players but machines are available on free extended loan to any one who does not have one.  The society is a registered charity, has no connection with any other organisation, is non-political, non-denominational and makes no charge for any of its services.

There is a free wheelchair repair service for all NHS prescription wheelchairs.  It operates a two day standard response service, a same day priority response and a 24 hour emergency service.  This covers all NHS issued wheelchairs both manual and electric.  Repairs normally take place at your home address but can by arrangement be at your place of work, college etc.
