Direct Payments

The government are keen for local councils to extend their Direct Payments schemes and this has been enforced by the Health and Social Care Act 2001 which, from April 2003, made it a duty for councils to offer direct payments to all those who are eligible.

Most people who receive direct payments find that they have far greater choice, control and flexibility over the services they receive.  Here are a few comments from direct payment users in Bath and North East Somerset themselves:

Comments from DIrect Payments Users:

“Direct Payments gave me back control of my life”

“Direct Payments give you complete control over your care - you can decide who works for you, how, where and when”

“Being on Direct Payments has brought my confidence back”
