The Bath and North East Somerset Supported Living Service
The Bath and North East Somerset Supported Living Service is the
new name for the joining together of two well established supported
living schemes; namely the Eastfield Supporting Independence Team
based in Bath and Keynsham, and the Our Way of Living Service based
in the Radstock and Midsomer Norton and Paulton area.
Our newly unified scheme provides a range of carefully chosen
care and support services that enables individuals with learning
difficulties to develop daily living skills to promote
independence, build on decision-making capabilities, and
develop an awareness of their own, and others, health, safety
and security issues.
Our service provides client-led, individually tailored care
programmes, ranging from intensive support work to hourly pop-in
visits, and welfare phone calls as and when required. We work
alongside individuals in their own homes focusing on a flexible
approach which provides a holistic package of support. This
includes personal care, assisting clients to access day services,
and liaising closely with other agencies in health, education,
housing and employment matters.
We encourage regular contact with individuals’ friends, family
and loved ones, and ensure that cultural and spiritual needs are
met through community involvement and inclusion. Furthermore, we
support individuals to develop skills in cooking, shopping, home
security and safety, provide guidance in budgeting and financial
matters, and how to keep a tenancy in good order.
Referrals to our service are made in the first instance by an
individuals’ social worker, who in turn passes this to our team
manager for due consideration.
We are regulated by the Commission of Social Care Inspection
(CSCI).
