Carrswood Day Service
Welcome
Who are we?
Carrswood Day Services have a purpose built day centre in
Twerton, Bath. We also provide a range of Outreach and
respite 1:1 and group sessions in the local community.
What do we do?
We offer a broad range of activities, which aim to develop,
maintain and enhance people’s skills, interests and abilities.
Some of the community facilities we use are:
- Bath Sports Centre for swimming / Sports
- Trampolining and Volleyball at local Sports Centres
- Royal United Hospital for Hydrotherapy
- Local Libraries
- Horse riding at Wellow Trekking Centre
We also:
- Enable people to make choices about all aspects of their
life
- Present choices in an informed and responsible way
- Enable people to develop relevant independence skills
- Enable people to feel good about themselves
- Create opportunities for people to meet people and develop
friendships
At Carrswood, we believe that everyone has the right to make
choices about their own life.
We work closely with local providers in all areas, so that
people can access mainstream services and provisions wherever
possible.
Service users can take an active part in the running of the
service through the service user committee.
Activities are also held within the centre, including a Lunch
Club (in which people choose and prepare their own lunches), the
Committee (part of whose role is to organise the social aspect of
using the centre) and a High Support Service, to enable people with
High Support Needs to access mainstream activities in and out of
the centre, and provide more specialist services within the centre
(such as the sensory stimulation room) and support other
professionals in their roles (for example physiotherapists and
speech and language therapists).
How can I access the service?
Referrals are considered via the B@NES Learning Disabilities
Team Managers at The Hollies in Midsomer Norton after full
assessments are made by a Social Worker from the Community Learning
Disabilities Team.
