Food Safety
Vulnerable Groups
This rating is given only to premises who serve people who are
more likely to suffer from food poisoning if they consume
contaminated food. Please note that this element of the risk rating
does not give an indication of how compliant a food premises is
with food hygiene legislation and best practice.
An additional score of 22 (in addition to the Consumers at risk
score) should be included for premises such as hospitals, nursing
homes, day-care centres and child nurseries, where production
and/or service of high-risk foods takes place, and where more than
20 persons in a vulnerable group are at risk. In this context,
vulnerable groups are those that include people who are under 5 or
over 65 years of age, people who are sick, and people who are
immunocompromised.
