This page provides information on the Keynsham and District Dial-a-Ride

What is the Dial-a-Ride and what can I use it for?

Dial-a-Ride is a door to door fully accessible minibus service for those who cannot use conventional public transport.

People can use this service to:

  • Go shopping.
  • Attend appointments.
  • Visit friends.
  • Play an active part in community life.

Where can I go?

Keynsham Town Service

The Dial-a-Ride service can be used for journeys within the Keynsham ward boundaries.

New Village Service

The service was extended in October 2006 to certain villages surrounding Keynsham. The Village service has two routes:

  • Route 1: Queen Charlton, Whitchurch Village, Pensford, Publow, Compton Dando, Chewton Keynsham and Saltford into Keynsham.
  • Route 2: Burnett, Newton St Loe, Corston and Saltford into Keynsham.
  • Shopping trips further afield will be available with day trips out on Wednesdays.

Am I eligible?

Any resident of Keynsham, Saltford and these villages who CAN NOT use conventional public transport is eligible to register for Dial-a-Ride. If you are unsure whether you are eligible please contact the office on 01225 395321.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

People wishing to use the service must first register with the scheme.

This involves completing a simple registration form.

The dial-a-ride leaflet (complete with registration form) is available:

By telephoning the scheme's co-ordinator on Tel: 01225 395321, or

By writing to The Coordinator at Keynsham & District Dial-a-Ride, Keynsham Town Hall, Keynsham, BS31 1NL.

BOOKING INFORMATION

When does the service operate?

  • In Keynsham, Dial-a-Ride operates between 9.00am and 4.00pm from Monday to Friday.
  • The Village service operates between 9.00am and 4.45pm from Monday to Thursday and between 9.00am and 4.30pm on Fridays.
  • Route 1 operates on Mondays and Thursdays, Route 2 on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Bank Holidays are excluded.
  • All journeys and times are subject to demand.

How much does it cost?

  • There is an annual membership fee of £5.00.
  • Keynsham and Saltford journeys cost £3.00 return and £1.60 single, but if you have a Diamond Travelcard these reduce to £1.50 and 80p.
  • Village service journeys cost £4.00 return and £2.00 single, but if you have a Diamond Travelcard these reduce to £2.00 and £1.00. 

How do I book a journey?

  • You can book once your registration is confirmed.  The booking line is 01225 395321.
  • For Keynsham journeys, telephone between 9.30am and 11.00am the working day before you wish to travel.
  • For the Village service, telephone between 1.00pm and 3.00pm up to 6 working days before you wish to travel.
  • Don't forget to book your return journey if needed.
  • Allow 10 minutes either side of your journey time for traffic conditions etc.

  • Please be ready 10 minutes before your journey time.

Please note:

We do our best to meet all requests. However we do operate on a first come first served basis:

  • We may ask you to alter your desired journey times slightly.
  • We reserve the right to refuse or defer an application for registration, to ask for additional information in support of an application or to cancel any existing registration.
  • All wheelchairs must be risk assessed by us before we can transport you.
