Objectives for 2006/07
The objectives for 2006/07 will be to build upon the
achievements of previous years in responding to the findings and
recommendations of the Climbie Inquiry Reports, the Every Child
Matters Agenda and the Implementation of The Children Act 2004, to
establish an effective, dynamic and active Local Safeguarding
Children Board for Bath and North East Somerset. A Board that will
broaden its scope and remit and maintain a clear focus on its
responsibility to safeguard children. A Board that will be informed
by the views and active participation of children, young people,
parents and carers. A Board that will hold its members to account
for their contributions to safeguarding and promoting the welfare
of children and young people. A Board that will be accountable for
its role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and
young people.
Within the Work Programme for 1006/07 the LSCB has made
provision for establishing and reviewing its effectiveness; for
developing and creating an effective workforce; and for progressing
the 5 aims of the Staying Safe outcome. This Work Programme is
central, and will contribute to the Implementation of the Children
and Young People’s Plan 2006-09. The Work Programme is outcome
focused. It is underpinned by the participation of children, young
people and their families.
