Information is provided here on:
- children on the register
- children added to the register
- children de-registered
- children who were subject of initial case conferences
- children who were subject of S47 enquiries
- enquiries to the register
Comparisons are made with a group of ‘like’ local authorities
and also England. Additional information about the children on the
register is given in the quarterly reports to the Area Child
Protection Committee.
Reflecting the availability of published data the comparisons
with ‘like’ local authorities relate to 2004/05 activity.
Information for Bath & North East Somerset is given up to
2005/06 although as relevant data may still be added to the client
record system these 2005/06 results are provisional.
Number of children on the register
The number of children on the register at 31 March 2006 was 60,
the same figure as for 2004/05 (see Figure 1).
Compared to ‘like’ local authorities Bath & North East
Somerset (March 2005) had a relatively low number of children on
the register: 16 children per 10,000 children in the population
(see Figure 2). The average for the group of ‘like’ local
authorities was 21 which was slightly below the figure for England,
ie 23 children per 10,000.
