Reregistrations
20 of the 72 children who were registered in Bath &
North East Somerset during 2007/08 had already been on the Bath
& North East Somerset child protection register; this
represented a re-registration rate of 28%, the highest rate since
recording began in 1997, see figure 9.
Comparison with ‘like’ local authorities for 2006/07 shows that
the Bath & North East Somerset re-registration rate (12%) was
then below both the group average (15%) and the England average
(13%), see figure 10.
Initial case conferences
During the year 2007/08 121 children were the subject of initial
case conferences; the highest result ever, see figure 11.
Compared to ‘like’ local authorities the Bath & North East
Somerset 2006/07 rate (23 children per 10,000) for initial case
conferences was below the average for the comparator group (29
children per 10,000) and the average for England (36 children per
10,000), see figure 12.
