Information is provided here on:

- children who were subject of initial case conferences

Comparisons are made with a group of ‘like’ local authorities
and also England. Additional information about the children
on the register is provided in quarterly reports to the Local
Safeguarding Children Board.
Reflecting the availability of published data the comparisons
with ‘like’ local authorities relate to 2006/07 activity.
Information for Bath & North East Somerset is given up to 31
March 2008 but as further data may still be added to the client
record system these 2007/08 results are provisional.
Number of children on the register
The number of children on the register at 31 March 2008 was 63,
the average number for the last 4 years, see figure 1.
Compared to ‘like’ local authorities Bath & North East
Somerset (March 2007) had a slightly lower number of children on
the register: 20 children per 10,000 children in the population,
see figure 2. The average for the group of ‘like’ local
authorities was 21 compared with the result for England, 25
children per 10,000 children in the population.
