Quick Guide to World Heritage

Local Authority World Heritage Forum (LAWHF)

Bath is a member of the Local Authority World Heritage Forum (LAWHF), a group for those UK Local Authorities responsible for a World Heritage Site in their area or or a site seeking World Heritage status. The Forum aims to represent the interests of local authorities in relation to World Heritage and raise awareness of World Heritage Site issues.

It talks to Government about the needs of local authorities caring for World Heritage Sites, provides a forum for discussion and information exchange, and publishes experience of managing World Heritage Sites in the United Kingdom. The Forum works with a range of organisations, including ICOMOS, ICCROM, English Heritage, Cadw and Historic Scotland.

LAWHF was formed in 1995 and is co-ordinated by Telford & Wrekin Borough Council. As of June 2003, the Forum has 22 members.
