Materials and Hazardous Waste

What materials can I bring to the Recycling Centres?

Recycling Centres are provided for the reuse, recycling, composting and disposal of large and/or hazardous items of household waste. We ask you to separate them into the correct containers so that we can maximise the amount we recycle. To find out  more about the materials we accept, please go to Materials We Take.

What can I do with hazardous waste?

Controlled amounts of hazardous waste from households can be brought to the Recycling Centres for safe disposal.  Please see an attendant when you get to the site.  If you have any concerns about the waste, please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email councilconnect@bathnes.gov.uk for guidance.

Vehicles and Van Permit System

What types of vehicles are allowed at the Recycling Centres?

Recycling Centres are purely for the use of private householders and should not be used for business waste. Vans, small lorries or large trailers will need a permit before they are allowed in. For more details of restrictions on vehicles, please go to Van Permit System.

What is the Van Permit System?

The van permit system has been introduced to stop the misuse of the site by businesses.  If you are a resident of Bath and North East Somerset with a van, small lorry or trailer who wishes to make use of the site, you will need to apply for a permit.  These are free of charge.

To find out more about the scheme including the vehicles covered by the scheme and how to apply for a permit, please go to Van Permit System.
