Recycling Collections
Kerbside Recycling Service
We provide a weekly green box recycling
collection throughout Bath and North East Somerset for 13 different
items.
In blocks of flats where the green box recycling collection is
not practical, we offer Mini Recycling Centres as an
alternative.
How do I get a container to help me
recycle?
You can put your recycling out in any suitable container, but to
make life easier we provide a choice of containers:
Large Green Box
55 Litres (55cm x 41cm x36cm)
Lids available on request.
Small Green Basket
24 Litres (50cm x 30cm x 25cm)
Useful for people with limited storage or difficulty lifting.
Additional boxes can be provided on request or you can put
extra material out in a suitable container or in plastic bags
alongside your recycling box. Please DO NOT use black sacks as
these will be mistaken for refuse and will not be collected.
If you live in the centre of Bath, green sacks are used instead
of the green box. These should be put through your letterbox
by the collectors.
To request a new or replacement green box, or additional
green sacks, please contact Council Connect on 01225
39 40 41, or email CouncilConnect@bathnes.gov.uk

Where and when do I put my green box
out?
You need to put your recycling box out by 7am on your collection
day. You should place it at the front boundary of your
property so that it is clearly visible and accessible. To
find out your collection day, please go to www.bathnes.gov.uk/myarea.
If you are not capable of moving your recycling to the edge of
your property and there is no-one else living with you who can
help, we can arrange an assisted collection.
Please contact Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email
councilconnect@bathnes.gov.uk for
an application form.
Please try to separate the materials you put in your recycling
box to make it easier for the crews to collect.

What materials should I not put in my
recycling box?
We can only recycle the materials listed in the table
above. Sometimes materials get put in the recycling box that
we cannot recycle. Items that are sometimes mistakenly put out
include:
General Plastic - we can only take plastic
bottles so please do not put in other types of plastic (e.g.
yoghurt pots, meat trays etc.)
Cardboard and Brown Paper - We cannot recycle
this with the other paper. However you can put it in your
compost bin or we can collect it for no charge as part of
the Cardboard and Garden Waste Collections.

Collection problems or questions
Although the time of our collections is broadly the same each
week, we cannot guarantee this. It is important to make sure that
your recycling is put out by 7am on the correct collection day.
If you do need to report a missed collection, you must let us
know by the end of the following working day in order for us to go
back and collect it. Any missed collections reported after
this time will not be collected until your next scheduled
collection.
To report a missed collection or if you have any other problems
or questions regarding your recycling service, please contact
Council Connect on 01225 39 40 41 or email councilconnect@bathnes.gov.uk
