Recycling - Information and Advice

Food waste recycling collections to start autumn 2010

Bath & North East Somerset Council have an excellent reputation for the recycling services we provide and thanks to the efforts of local people we are in the top 10% of all Local Authorities for our recycling performance.

You can find out about the following through our recycling pages:

Why recycling is important

Recycling means that we don't throw so much waste into landfill sites. Waste that goes into landfill sites causes pollution as it rots down and we are rapidly running out of sites to dump our waste.

Recycling saves energy and resources that would otherwise be lost if they were just thrown away.  The materials we collect can be made into many different products - the possibilities are endless.

It is becoming increasingly expensive to throw our waste into landfill sites.  Recycling our waste will help to keep costs down and that's good news for our Council Tax.

Projects and Campaigns

We run 6 monthly promotional themes on particular materials to help increase the amount that is being recycled.  From time to time we also run specific campaigns funded from outside sources.  We work closely with a number of partners to reduce the amount we throw away in Bath and North East Somerset.  For more information go to:
