Planning Service Structure. This sets out the services which
the planning service provides and the teams
which provide them. To contact one of our teams

The new structure which has been put in place with new
management, staff and teams is backed up with new priorities and
improved systems. It is all aimed directly at making the planning
service more efficient and easier to access.
The Government has finished a complete overhaul of the
Planning system, setting out a brand new plan making process and
approach to development control. It has introduced tough new
performance targets which it requires all council’s to meet in the
time taken to decide planning applications. It has also placed
expectations on producing new plans and making the service more
accessible through the internet.
To help ensure the council delivers a good service which
continues to provide stewardship of one of the country’s most
sensitive environments, and work towards achieving the government’s
new agenda, the planning service has radically restructured to
deliver a focus on core business and prioritising the service to
the customer.
Improvements are already being achieved. Planning Services have
launched a Public Access
website which provides direct access to
applications, plans and correspondence anywhere and anytime.
You can search for planning applications, submit comments
on existing applications, look up property details and maps, or
view a weekly list of applications received. You can also compile a
new application through the Planning Portal (external link to a
UK Government website).
The service will continue to seek ongoing improvement and
address problems. Having now established its new structure,
it will be building contacts with its customers and stakeholders to
achieve this.
