December 1988	Bath City Council Objectives adopted (CD 10.1).
1988	Planning application submitted by Prudential (Ref: 7741-43). Application was not determined (1990).
1995	Site acquired by General Accidence and Shearer Property Holdings.
May 1996	Southgate Issues Report adopted by PT&E Committee (CD 10.2).
May 1997	Evolution Report adopted by PT&E Committee (CD 10.7) .
June 1997	Bath Local Plan adopted (CD 2.2).
November 1997	Main Planning Application submitted (97/01019/FUL) (CD 4.1) with Environmental Statement.
February 1998	Conservation area consent application registered (97/01021/CA).
April 1998	Listed building consent application registered (97/01020/LBA).
October 1998	Revised plans and amendments to Environmental Statement submitted. Conservation area consent application revised to omit part of Churchill House.
February 1999	Listed building consent application withdrawn and replaced by 99/00102/LBA. Further revisions to the Main Planning Application submitted.
March 1999	Further amendments and supplementary Environmental Statement submitted.
26 March 1999	Development Control Committee considered revised proposals.
October 1999	Revised plans submitted.
November 1999	Further revisions submitted.
December 1999	Further revisions submitted.
December 1999	Listed building consent application withdrawn.
June 2000	New Listed building consent application submitted (00/01759/LBA).
June 2000	Revised plans submitted.
August 2000	Replacement conservation area consent submitted (00/01761/CA) (CD 6.5).
22 September 2000	Development Control Committee considered proposals.
January 2001	Development Control Committee received progress report.
June 2001	Listed building consent application withdrawn and replaced by 01/01431/LBA (CD 6.3).
June 2001	Revised plans submitted and Environmental Statement replaced (CDs 7 and 8).

June 2001	Planning application 01/01377/FUL (Southgate footbridge etc) submitted (CD 6.1).
September 2001	Development Control Committee considered planning, listed building and conservation area consent applications.
March 2002	Revised plans & supplementary Environmental Statement submitted.
10 May 2002	Development Control Committee considered revised proposals (CDs 5.1, 5.2 & 5.3) and resolved to approve:- · 01/01377/FUL (issued 10th May 2002) · 01/01431/LBA (issued 21st June 2002) · 00/01761/CA (issued 10th May 2002)
5 March 2003	Council Executive resolved to: (1) confirm its ongoing support in principle for the redevelopment of Southgate; (2) note the reasons why and the circumstances in which the making of the compulsory purchase order may be recommended; and (3) confirm its "in principle" support for the making of the Order if so recommended.
5 June 2003	Development Control Committee considered proposed changes to scheme (CDs 5.4, 5.5 & 5.6).
24 September 2003	Planning Agreement signed (CD 5.7).
25 September 2003 30 June 2004	Main Scheme Planning Permission issued (01/01019/FUL). Council Executive resolved to make the Order (CD 3.1).
20 October 2004	Council made the Order (CDs 3.3,3.4 and 3.5).
29 October 2004	The Order was submitted to the Secretary of State for confirmation.
