An interesting walk combining the historical city centre with a quieter canal walk

Walk Eight Map - Canal and Riverside Walk

Starting from the historic Pulteney Bridge with wonderful views of the weir and Bath Abbey. The walk follows the river, towards Widcombe, where the Kennett and Avon canal joins
the River Avon. The walk then continues along the canal.

Distance: 1.55 miles or 2500 metres
Grading: Steep
Comments: Complete walk not suitable for wheelchair users. Moderate slopes in places and steps

Walk Highlights

A surprisingly quiet and peaceful walk, just a short distance from the City centre. From the canal the walk continues down Bathwick Hill and along to Great Pulteney Street to Laura Place which are outstanding examples of Georgian architecture.

Route Information

Wheelchair access is from Grove Street passing under Argyle Street. The exit from the towpath at Bathwick Hill is not wheelchair accessible.
