Walking is Great Because...

  • It’s free
  • There’s no need for special equipment
  • Anyone can do it, young or old
  • You don’t have to do it alone, bring a friend, relative or the dog!
  • You can set your own distance and time scales

Health and Fitness Facts

Walking is a good way to improve the health of your heart, lungs and circulation and to help control your weight. Set a medium pace so you are slightly warm and breathing more heavily than usual but can talk comfortably.

Try and walk for at least 30 minutes on most days of the week and you’ll reap the health benefits and feel great. If you can’t do the whole 30 minutes in one go, break it down into two shorter walks of 15 minutes each.

Disclaimer

Walkers participate at their own risk. Bath & North East Somerset Council cannot accept responsibility for any personal injury. Please consult your doctor if you have heart disease. Do not go walking if you have a raised temperature.
