Building Control Awards
Building & Design Quality Awards
In January 2000 we introduced our Building and Design Quality
Award Scheme. We felt it was time that local builders and
developers working in the Bath & North East Somerset area
should receive recognition of the high standards of workmanship and
project management our surveyors see everyday. It was important
that excellence in the design of buildings was also recognised and
hence the scheme incorporates a design award.
Both the Building and Design awards cover different categories
of building and types of work, such as domestic extensions,
commercial/public buildings, works to a listed building and new
housing.
Building Quality Award
This scheme rewards those builders who work to the highest
standards, taking into account important matters such as health and
safety, compliance with building regulations and customer
satisfaction. Building Control Surveyors will make additional notes
when they make their normal inspections to ascertain if a project
is suitable for an award. The winners will receive their award at a
ceremony held each year.
Design Quality Award
Suitable projects submitted to the Council's Building Control
Section will be chosen for short listing by officers from the
section. Schemes may also be put forward by the owners and/or
agents submitting projects and by members of the public. An
independent, qualified panel of architects will carry out short
listing and final judging. As with the Building Quality award, an
award ceremony will be held annually.
Since the scheme's inception the awards have been presented by
Don Foster MP.
We would like to thank the BATH STONE GROUP for sponsoring
the awards.
Previous years winners can be viewed on the
award winners page.
