Guidance on Managing Allegations and Safer Working
Practices
On this page you will find information about the changes in
relation to managing allegations against professionals and
volunteers working with children and young people. You
will also find the Department for Children, Schools
and Families guidance for safer working
practice. Both documents need to be read together
and it is important that all settings are aware of the guidance and
implement it within their own organisation.
These documents are intended to support schools and settings in
fulfilling their responsibilities as it enables a shared view to be
reached on whether an allegation fits the criteria as set out in
Working Together 2006, provides clarity about what further
action is required and can avoid having to take retrospective
action when an investigation may already be compromised.
If you have any specific queries in respect of the paper please
contact Nicola Bennett who is the Integrated Safeguarding Officer
for the children's service. If you would like to feedback any
general issues to the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB).
