The Graduate Leader Fund (GLF) is available to private,
voluntary and independent (PVI) full day care settings. It
replaces the Transformation Fund with immediate effect. The
Graduate Leader Fund is guaranteed until 31st March 2011.
Part of the GLF is also available to Childminders and to
practitioners that work in settings that are not registered as full
day care. In Bath and North East Somerset we have split the
Graduate Leader Fund into 2 areas:
- Graduate Development Incentives – to develop staff in order to
allow practitioners (including childminders and early years
practitioners not working in a full day care setting) to gain the
Early Years Foundation Degree
- Early Years Professional Rewards – to help settings to employ a
practitioner who has gained Early Years Professional Status and
assist with training costs for all staff and improve the quality of
services for the children
Graduate Development Incentives
Individuals who work in the PVI sector (and childminders and
early years practitioners not working in a full day care setting)
can apply for funding towards the fees for completing an Early
Years Foundation Degree. Settings who have a practitioner
receiving funding will receive £500 towards the cost of cover for
the practitioner.
Early Years Professional Rewards
Full day care PVI settings can apply for this funding if they
have a Level 5 (Early Years Foundation Degree) or graduate who
holds Early Years Professional Status or is willing to gain the
status within 2 years. This person must also lead practice in
the setting. Further information is contained within
‘Graduate Leader Fund – Early Years Professional Rewards – An
Invitation to Apply’. Settings will receive up to
£6,000 per annum depending on the funding stream that is being
applied for and the amount of funding available.
