Children who are in hospital for five days or longer, all
repeated admissions to hospital and those pupils convalescing at
home for three weeks or more can receive support around their
education. Teaching is carried out by a team of qualified primary,
special needs and secondary teachers with subject specialisms. The
teachers based at the Royal United Hospital provide bedside
teaching and group teaching in the schoolroom there. They are
also responsible for teaching and learning at the Royal United
Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath.
Children of all abilities are taught, from those with
profound and multiple learning difficulties to those taking
GCSEs. We deliver teaching and learning as laid down in the
National Curriculum. We aim to continue to support programmes
of study as identified by the Child's own school. We can also
provide support for the reintegration process of pupils into
mainstream education.
