Sure Start Children's Centre Services for Keynsham and the Chew
Valley are provided by Keynsham Children's Centre which is situated
at 65 West View Road, Keynsham, Bristol BS31 2UE.
Family support is provided by outreach services such as the
Community Parents Scheme and Family Support Workers, who work with
parents, carers and their children at home or in school.
Centre based services include counselling, music therapy, parent
support groups, an arts based therapy group for mothers with post
natal depression and parenting courses. Lots of these groups
have an on-site creche.
Health services include breastfeeding peer support, individual
support for physical and emotional health, support to stop
smoking, speech and language therapy plus healthy eating workshops
and courses.
Information and advice is available from a wide range of
organisations. Stay and Play sessions provide a variety of
play, learning and development opportunities for children and their
families, while meeting other families and gaining information,
advice and access to other services. Books and toy library
facilities are available. A childminding group provides
support and advice for childminders.
Where are we going?
Services at Keynsham Children's Centre will be extended with the
involvement of parents and partner organisations. Services in
the Chew Valley area will be developed through consultation
with local families and professionals. We will be working
with the community and building on links ith Health Visitors,
Schools, Early Years settings and Childminders to offer a range of
services for children aged 0-11 years and their families by
2011.

The Outreach Service is available to support
families working with parent/carers and children in their homes,
schools and our Children’s Centre. For details please call 01225

The Library Service provide a Foyer Library for
parents and children under 5. Available every day.
An Outreach Worker from the Family Information
Service will be present on the third week of the
month.
