Family Learning

Do you want to:

  • Develop a taste for learning?
  • Help your child to learn?
  • Explore employment or learning opportunities?
  • Gain confidence?
  • Get more involved in your community?

Who we are

We are the Family Learning Team.  Our role is to offer family learning activities in partnership with schools, early-years settings, Children’s Centres, Sports Development and Health Visitors.

We are part of Bath & North East Somerset Council and funded by the Learning and Skills Council.

What we do

We can offer a range of activities including:

  • Keeping up with the children - to find out how children are taught
  • in school.
  • Fit for Life - learn more about healthy eating and sport activities through “taster” sessions and courses.
  • ICT - Introduction to computers, improve your skills and find out what children are learning in ICT.
  • Family Literacy and Numeracy - work alongside your child in the Family Learning Group with an opportunity to improve your own skills.

Research states

“Families are not only our first and most important teachers, but they also teach us the most important things in life”

Past comments

“I enjoyed being in the group and feeling part of the school”

“I now understand what my child means so my frustration has stopped”

“I now want to do a course to be a classroom assistant”
