Wraparound Childcare
Primary Schools provide access to high-quality childcare,
8am–6pm, five days a week, 48 weeks a year, in accordance with
their communities’ needs, combined with a varied menu of activities
(study support) to enhance achievement and broaden interests. This
covers
breakfast, after school clubs and holiday play schemes for
children of school age.
Pupils of secondary age often do not want to attend childcare
so some parents and carers of older children and young people
choose from a
varied menu of activities offered by
their school, including art, drama, music and sports. Although
these activities are not 'childcare', some parents find them a good
option for older children and young people
.
