Writers and exciting writing
Collaborative Creative Enquries
You might want to get involved with writers at the Bath Literature
Festival. Check out their
website.http://www.bathlitfest.org.uk/education.html
The 'Write Team' is a great new initiative which Emma Metcalfe
has inspired. Do
check out the details here.
There have been a number of creative writing days where 1
teacher with 4 of their pupils, from 5 schools have met with a
published author to take their writing forward.
Last year there were 5 such days and this year 3 day which
were very successful. Many of the young people have subsequently
gone on to write either on their own or in a writers circle, some
have supported other pupils in joining a writers circle in school,
some have inspired others to start writing. The affect on teachers
has also been evident.
A glimpse of writing in progress
Destroyed Life of the Whale
Gulping, laughing, crying.
These are great emotions,
Emotions of a being.
A being that sings so loud,
So loud, a being would breakdown.
Breakdown at just the sound,
It storms through the cavernous
seascape.
And through and through the Abyss,
The Abyss of the ocean,
But faces death of numbers,
Through pollution of the magical
quarry,
And swarm upon by nature's
predators,
And the merchant sellers of fish.
These ancients must settle
together,
And support each other.
Like we humans should,
This trading of its friends,
Of its friends and its home,
These ancients should be left
alone.
Yes, these ancients should be left
alone.

Googling young writers comes up with a host of exciting sites.
Just a couple to get you going but if you tell me any you have
found really good let me know and I will add them here.
How about entering a poetry competition? The South Bank Centre
London Poetry Centre has lots of suggestions.
