AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS - NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS

NOTICE IS GIVEN that from 6th July to 3rd August 2009, between
9.00am and 5.00pm (4.30 on Fridays) any person interested may
inspect and make copies of the Accounts of Bath & North East
Somerset Council for the year ended 31st March 2009 and all
books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating
thereto. The Accounts and other documents will be available for
inspection at The Guildhall, High Street, Bath. Copies of the
Accounts will also be available at the Council’s offices at
Riverside, Temple Street, Keynsham and at The Hollies, Midsomer
Norton.
NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that the auditor has appointed the 3rd
August 2009 as the date on or after which local government electors
for the area to which the accounts relate may exercise their rights
under section 15 and 16 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 to
question the auditor about or make objections to the accounts for
the year ended 31 March 2009. The auditor can be contacted at the

The Auditor can apply to the high court under Section 17(1) of
the Audit Commission Act 1988 to seek confirmation whether an item
in the accounts breaks the law. The auditor can also make a report
under section 8 of the Audit Commission Act 1998 on a matter the
auditor feels they should tell the public about.
Questions may also be received at the Guildhall, High Street,
Bath BA1 5AW, by arrangement with the Auditors to whom requests for
this purpose should be addressed. No objection may be made unless
the Auditor has previously received written notice of the objection
and its grounds. A copy of such notice must be sent to the Council
at the address below.
