Workforce Reform Strategy
“All Children and Young People will do better in life than they
ever thought they would”
Our goal is to improve outcomes for all children and
young people and narrow the gap in attainment and achievement
between those who do well and those who do not. To achieve
this vision all services for children and young people in Bath and
North East Somerset must commit to improving the skills, experience
and qualifications of their staff.
Developing a Children and Young People’s Workforce Development
Strategy for Bath and North East Somerset will help ensure we have
a better trained and more confident workforce who can help improve
the life chances of children and young people. This strategy is
designed to deliver the following outcomes:
- A workforce with the skills to provide integrated services
built around the needs of children and young people
- A workforce that will consistently develop their own new
skills
- A workforce that embraces flexible staff/working practices
- A strategy that attracts people to social care profession and
in B&NES in particular
- Forward looking –what we will look like in 10 years time
- Equality and diversity
There are other drivers for the development of a Workforce
Strategy includes legislation, European directives, Policy and
Performance Plans, Best Value, and Regulatory frameworks and
national learning and skills strategy.
The strategy aims to pull together local and national priorities
and links to the Children and Young People’s Plan to provide a
strategic workforce development framework to meet the challenges
facing Bath and North East Somerset children’s service.
The overall aim for service delivery is to refocus services
towards early intervention, prevention and promote more integrated
delivery of services at the Local Area Partnership level. This
aligns to the council’s vision and culture that strives to provide
quality and value with customer focus
