Media and Publicity Protocols

Access to services

To the Council, news and information is key to local people being able to access the full range of services, which their Council Tax pays for.

The Council's press office - part of the Communications & Marketing  - provides that information on a daily basis.

The press plays a vital role in the process, by enabling Council information to  be shared across the community through newspapers, radio and TV.

But its not all about the Media.

Information Kiosk

Communications & Marketing provides a joined up approach to providing news and information, so it is properly accessible to everyone. As such it deals with information through a range of outlets, such as the website, Council News, roadshows, leaflets, pamphlets and publications like the Council A-Z, and residents Welcome Pack.

It ensures news and information is available in a range of formats, including large print and braille, electronically, in hard copy, and in various community languages. It also make sure services are aligned with local people's needs.

 Working in partnership

Much of our work links with our partners, for example :

  • the Local Strategic Partnership made up of a wide range of community groups
  • the Community Safety Partnership where we link with the Police and other groups for the safety of residents and visitors
  • the Primary Care Trust and other health groups
  • as well as business partnerships that are working together for the benefit of local communities – Norton Radstock Regeneration, Bath Community Partnerships, and the development of Western Riverside.
