Marriage - Historic Searches
A certificate relating to a Birth Death or Marriage that
occurred in Bath and North East Somerset since July 1837 may be
obtained from this office. All the indexes can be found on the
BathBMD
website. We would hope to process the application the day we
receive it. Please give us a daytime telephone number, and a
stamped self-addressed envelope, (please note that certificates are
A4 size). Cheques should be made payable to "Superintendent
Registrar".
You may download the relevant application form, complete it
and post it to us.
Marriage Certificates
These cost £7.00. You would need to supply the following
information. The Register Office, Church Chapel or Approved
Premises in which the marriage took place. The date of the marriage
and the full names and surnames of the bride and groom. In the case
of the bride, her name just before she married.
We will do our best to find the entry you require. The more
information you can give us the easier it will be.
It is worth checking our computerised indexes at www.bathbmd.org.uk.
We search two years either side of the date you specify.
In the case of Marriages most of the churches and chapels have
their own register. If you do not know the exact place we may not
be able to find the entry.
If we cannot help we will refund the money.
