The Race Equality Scheme and Action Plan are currently
under review. The revised versions will be published on
this page by the end of July 2008
The Council's Race Equality Scheme is part of a wider
equality policy and commitment (that includes race, gender,
disability, age, religion and belief and sexual orientation) in
relation to the delivery of services and the employment of
staff.
The Council is under a legal duty to proactively promote race
equality. The Race Equality Scheme and Action Plan set
out what steps the Council will take to:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination;
- promote equality of opportunity between different racial groups
and
- promote good relations between persons of different racial
groups.
The Race Equality Scheme also gives details of how the Council
will assess and monitor its employment and service delivery to
ensure that all members of the community of Bath and North East
Somerset receive a fair an equitable service.
