Local Economy - Reports and Forecasts
The Economic Development Service undertakes a range of research
and intelligence projects in order to inform policy making and for
the reference of stakeholders in the Bath and North East Somerset
area. A current economic profile of the area can be found in
the 'Economic Intelligence' section of the
Business Matters website.
Retail Study and Retail Opportunities Appraisal 2004
The Retail Study 2004 assesses the need and capacity for new
retailing floorspace in Bath & North East Somerset up to 2011.
It covers the city centre of Bath and Midsomer Norton, Radstock and
Keynsham town centres.
Government guidance requires that Local Planning Authorities
should make allocations in Local Plans to meet identified need and
the Retail Opportunities Appraisal Study therefore looks at the
opportunities to accommodate the projected new floorspace on
specific sites in each of the main city and town centres.
