Licensing Act 2003
Statement of Licensing Policy
38 Access to Cinemas
38.1 Films cover a vast range of subjects, some of
which deal with adult themes and/or contain for example, scenes of
horror or violence that may be considered unsuitable for children
within certain age groups.
38.2 The Licensing Authority will expect licence
holders or clubs to include in their Operating Schedules
arrangements for restricting children from viewing age-restricted
films classified according to recommendations of the British Board
of Film Classification (or the Licensing Authority itself) to
satisfactorily address safety issues including the supervision of
children.
38.3 The Act also provides that it is mandatory for a
condition to be included in all Premises Licences and Club Premises
Certificates authorising the exhibition of films for the admission
of children to the exhibition to be restricted in accordance with
the recommendation given either by the British Board of Film
Classification or the Licensing Authority itself.
