Licensing Act 2003 

Fees and Charges

Fees for all Licensing Act 2003 permissions have been set by Central Government.

The fees are based on the non-domestic rateable value of the premises. To find out how much your non-domestic rateable value of your premises is you can enter your postcode into the Valuation Office’s website at www.voa.gov.uk.

The values are divided into five bands:

Application Fees

The application fees for new premises licences and new club premises certificates are listed in the next table.  These also apply to variation applications. There will be a multiplier applied to premises in Bands D and E where they are exclusively or primarily in the business of supplying alcohol (e.g. mainly large town and city centre pubs).

Annual Fee

An annual fee shall become due and payable each year on the anniversary of the date of the grant of the licence/certificate as follows:

Large Temporary Events

Exceptionally large events of a temporary nature that require premises licences will be charged an additional fee on top of the premises licence fee as follows:

Provisional Applications

Premises under construction that have not been allocated a non-domestic rateable value will be given such a value as soon as a completion certificate is given. In these cases it is proposed to allocate such premises to band C. Subsequent annual fees will relate to the non-domestic rateable value given to the property.

Fee Exempt Premises

Premises licences sought for community centres and some schools that permit regulated entertainment but do not permit the supply of alcohol and/or the provision of late night refreshment will not incur a fee.
