Supporting People
Welcome to the Bath & North East Somerset Supporting People
Programme
|
Vision Statement
We will highlight current inequalities
in the provision of Supporting People services and identify unmet
needs
We will identify ways in which we can
complement related strategic plans and initiatives and make best
use of resources
We will deliver services which prevent
homelessness and promote
independence |
Supporting People is a Local Authority Partnership between
Housing, Health, Probation and Social Services. We commission
housing related support services that enable people to aquire and
sustain a tenancy and their independence in their own home.
Each local authority is responsible for administering their
allocation of funding for the programme and commissioning services
according to an agreed strategy.
In Bath and North East Somerset this includes approximately 3000
units of accommodation and several floating/re-settlement support
services. Information about all these services is available
from our online database SPOCC.net. Search by client group to bring up
results throughout B&NES.
Alternatively, you can open a copy of our
Directory of local Supporting People Services through the menu
on the left.
The overall aims of the programme can be summarised as
follows:
- to provide housing related support services that are focussed
on meeting the needs of local people
- to provide a range and choice of high quality support services
for vulnerable people
- to develop a commissioning strategy for housing related support
services that is linked to other plans such as the health
improvement programme and the community safety strategy
- to ensure that the needs of all vulnerable groups and
individuals are recognised
Thirteen different client groups are included in the
programme:
- Older people with support needs
- People with learning disabilities
- People with HIV/AIDS
- People with drug problems
- Young people at risk or leaving care
- Single homeless people
